If you are becoming a mother for the first time, many questions will be arising in your mind that how to nurture your children and provide them the right food.
Every parent wishes that their child is healthy. But sometimes you get upset about what food you give to your children which is suitable for that newborn.

The right diet for a 0-3-month-old baby-

Diet for a child 0 to 3 months old is the best food for a newborn baby, breast milk of the mother. Mother's milk is pure, free of adulteration, and full of all nutrients. With its proper intake, the child remains strong. It's drinking also creates an emotional bond between mother and child. Breast milk contains immunoglobulin (a protective protein) which protects the baby from external infection.

Some mothers also give children boiled water, fruit juice, and glucose water during this delicate time, which is not necessary. Breast milk removes diseases and allergies from the baby's body. A child who regularly drinks mother's milk is much less likely to develop a disease like asthma. A newborn baby younger than 34 weeks is a little less cautious to drink mother's milk, so the baby needs to be given mother's milk.

At the beginning of 3 months, the mother's diet also affects the baby's health. Therefore, after delivery, the woman should take special care and balance her diet. If the mother does not make breast milk properly or there is a problem, she shows a lack of iron in the body. For three months the baby needs iron the most. After three months, other iron-rich foods may also be introduced, which are being discussed further.

The right diet for a child of 3-6 months-

From this age of a child, his body needs a lot of nutrients. In this period, the baby's food is not only dependent on the mother's milk but is also converted into some solid food such as cooked food. It should be started by giving the child seralec, which should be mashed properly and given to the child at fixed intervals so that the child gets enough nutrients for the development of the body.

Gradually, in the afternoon try to give the child something new that can be easily digested. Thus, the child should be encouraged in the food served. When you start feeding the baby something new, it should be given for at least one week, and only after feeding it for two weeks should you do something new. Giving any new food may cause indigestion to the child initially.

Mixing ragi powder, semolina or raw banana powder in sugar and milk is beneficial. Take care not to place it in the baby's bottle, make it a habit to feed it with a spoon, so that the child does not have to wander after being given solid food. If the child gets a little older, she can feed him well-cooked rice and yogurt

When the child starts digesting it properly, he should be fed khichdi, which should be made from rice and moong dal. At this age, the child should be given soup and light digestible vegetables and fruits once a day as a supplementary meal. Fruits and vegetables can overcome the lack of a sufficient amount of iron in the child's body, which is not possible only with breast milk. The fruit given to the child should be fully ripe. If the baby is well cared for, then its weight doubles after 5 months of its birth.

The right diet for a 6-9-month-old baby-

After 6 months, children like to eat solid food. By this time, children should start giving fruits, vegetables. At this age, children become very naughty, they take food with them, they should be encouraged to keep this habit in their mind.

After six months, the teeth of children start coming out. At this time there is a lot of irritation in their teeth and to calm this eruption, they put anything in the mouth and keep it in the mouth. This is likely to cause them diarrhea. To reduce this habit, give the child a biscuit or toast which he can suck and do not chew.

The child should boil boiled potatoes and give it plainly, if desired, add a drop of light salt and lemon juice to it. Apart from this, many other vegetables such as carrots, cabbage, pumpkin, and spinach should also be boiled properly and ground with salt and feed the child. The child can also grind idli, dhokla, chapati, etc. in milk. At this age, the egg can also be started to be given to the child. Feeding 3 to 4 eggs a week is healthy.

The right diet for a 9-12 month-old baby-

When the baby is 9–12 months old, your baby will now be taking food three times a day. If not, it will be taken soon. But your baby is not completely ready to eat everything you can eat. This is because his digestive system is not yet fully mature. But he can still start eating food with you.

The right food for a 9 to12 months baby:

  • Fruits and vegetables in sufficient quantity so that the baby can get vitamins and minerals.
  • Starchy foods such as rice, pasta, bread, wheat, oats, semolina, and potatoes so that the baby can get energy.
  • Foods that are rich in protein such as lentils, pulses, beans, cowpea and moong and whole moong, soya, eggs, well-crushed or powdered nuts so that the baby gets good growth and development.
  • Full fat full dairy products like yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, and custard, etc. to strengthen baby's teeth and bones. Cow's milk can be used to prepare the baby's food, but do not give it as a main drink before he turns one year old. After this give him full-fat milk.
  • Breast milk or formula milk is still an important part of the infant's diet. This should be his main drink, plus you can also give him water.

What should you give your children to drink:

  • Formula milk or breast milk is still an important part of your child's diet. If you are giving formula milk to your child, then she is given 500 ml per day. (16.6 fluid ounces) and 600 mL (20 fluid ounces) of milk will be required.
  • In the summer months, most mothers worry about how to increase infants' fluid intake. If you feel that your child needs more fluids, you can give him filtered or boiled cold water.
  • You can also give fruits and vegetable juice by mixing some healthy drinks like water, but start it only when your child has started drinking plain water. A total of 120 ml (4 fluid ounces) will be sufficient for that.
  • Giving soda or artificial juice to your child is not right. Harmful food coloring and other things can be found in them. Excess sugar added to these can cause decay in the baby's teeth. Consuming sweet drinks also causes obesity and other health problems.
  • After your child is one year old, he is given 350 ml per day. Cow's milk is necessary. This gives him essential protein, calcium, magnesium, and vitamins B12 and B2 (riboflavin). You can also give him drinks made from milk, such as milkshakes, almond shake, smoothies, lassi, or buttermilk. If he does not like milk, give him two parts of calcium-rich food.
  • It is not right to give your child more than 400 ml of milk per day. If you do this, then your appetite for eating solid food can be reduced, which gives him other essential nutrients like iron and vitamins. Know here what new things your child can try after 12 to 18 months.
